Mukhtaran Mai vows to continue her mission
Gang rape survivor Mukhtaran Mai, who had to wait five years for the Supreme Court’s verdict in her case, has lost faith in the justice system.
Women protection a low priority in Pata
DESPITE the passage of over four years, the law commonly known as Women Protection Act (WPA) is yet to be extended to the Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (Pata) due to which the Offence of Zina (Enforcement of Hudood) Ordinance, 1979, is applicable in these areas in its original form.
Mai will appeal against SC decision
MEERWALA: Rape victim Mukhtaran Mai said on Sunday that she would challenge the Supreme Court decision to dismiss her appeal against the early release of five men convicted of abusing her.
Will Mukhtaran Mai ever get justice?
It is tempting, when hearing that five of the six men accused of raping Mukhtaran Mai have had their acquittals upheld by the Supreme Court, to see the verdict as the latest in a long line of indignities forced upon her. Mukhtaran Mai has endured government scorn and apathy with grace and has been an inspiration to millions. If anyone deserved justice, it is her.

USER GUIDE

You can make use of this website to find contact information of various organizations providing psychological counseling, legal and medical aid and other support to women victims of violence. For this, you need to click on the link “Organizations”. As the number of organizations is large, we have provided a search option. You can search:

  • For organizations working in a certain district (for example Mandi Bahuddin, Kashmore, Questta etc)
  • For organizations providing a certain service (for example legal aid, medical aid, psychological counseling etc)
  • For a particular organization working on violence against women (Bedari, Aurat Foundation, PODA etc).

The resource center has a list of darulaman (Shelter Homes) run by the government in various districts. We have tried our best to provide a comprehensive list of such shelter homes and their contact information.

Similarly, the resource center provided information about Burn Centers. As women often receive burn injuries (stove burning, acid throwing etc.), it is also an important resource for those searching for facilities where such women can be treated.

It has an online library, which contains PDF files of various research studies, reports and laws related to women. The library page contains information about title of the study/report/law/book, a brief description and a link to download that book.  The link to library page is available on home page.

We try to keep our visitors informed about latest news of incidents of violence against women as well as other news which may have an impact on violence against women. Recent news are displayed on the left vertical bar. If click on the ‘more’ link, you are taken to the original page of the news.
